The original entity was founded in 1983 under Surjit Kalra, establishing an early foothold in automotive engineering and standards work in India.
The defining moment came in 2006. Indeep Madan secured a perpetual authorised contract with the Vehicle Certification Agency of the United Kingdom — the UK government's official type approval authority. At the time, no Indian company had built this kind of direct, institutionalised relationship with a European regulatory body. No other Indian company holds it today.
In 2024, KaM Auto UK was formally established in Leamington Spa — co-founded by Indeep Madan and Jack Clisby — placing KaM engineers inside the UK automotive market. ISO 9001:2015 certification, covering both the India and UK entities and accredited by UKAS through NQA, was secured in 2026 and is valid through April 2029.
